This report presents an overview of a practical strategy for sustainable resource management within North-eastern British Columbia, under which cumulative impacts could be assessed and managed through two integrated tracks: project review and broader regional management tools. The report highlights key elements of a regional approach to cumulative impact management, particularly those associated with oil and gas activities. Finally, it identifies crucial cumulative impact management (CIM) items opportunities to: adopt the dual-track approach to addressing cumulative impacts; incorporate a formal screening for CIM into the Oil and Gas Commission’s application review process; continue work on definition of CIM indicators and management thresholds; and establishing a central sustainable resource management strategy steering committee to advise on regional initiatives.
