Scenario Modeling Report – Athabasca Landscape Area – Appendix 3 – 2009

The Athabasca Landscape Team was established in June 2008 and tasked with developing an Athabasca Caribou Landscape Management Options report for boreal caribou ranges in northeast Alberta. In order to evaluate management options that may help sustain and recover boreal caribou in the Athabasca Landscape area, the Athabasca Landscape Team used a simulation model to evaluate alternative management scenarios. The model was used to compare and evaluate the influence of different ‘management levers’ on key indicators for caribou habitat quality or the size and persistence of caribou herds. This report provides a summary of the modeling approach, key assumptions and modeling results for the Athabasca Landscape area, as an appendix to the Athabasca Landscape Team Management Options report.
